Before joining VR as the Managing Director of the Island of Hawaii, Grif developed businesses in the education, fitness, housing, food and beverage, fashion, publishing, tourism, travel, furniture, restaurant, hotel, property development and agricultural business segments. Grif has been involved with developing businesses in manufacturing, wholesale, retail, direct response marketing and international sales Since joining VR Mergers & Acquisitions on the Island of Hawaii in 2004, Grif has worked with over 200 business owners helping them prepare their businesses for sale and been involved in 40+ business sale transactions on the Island of Hawaii ranging in size from $120,000 to $12 million. Grif, a published author, is passionate about helping people become owners of LQ Businesses. LQ=Life Quality. Grif works with business owners to help them LQ their businesses which adds value to their businesses and improve their lives. An LQ Business will command a premium in the market place when the business owner chooses to sell their business. Grif has been a faculty member with the University of Hawaii Hilo College of Business and Economics teaching classes on business planning, international marketing and entrepreneurship. Grif has been married to Noriko Nomura for 30+ years, has four adult children, Alexander, Anthony, Andrea and Aleshia, all educated overseas and all of whom have chosen to make the Island of Hawaii their home as it is a totally LQ environment. Grif was raised in Hillsboro, Oregon, was a Rotary Club Scholar and sent to live and work in a beer brewery in France for a year at the age of fifteen, received his BA in Liberal Arts from Willamette University and Global MBA from Thunderbird Graduate School of Global Management. Grif's hobby is sharing his passion for premium chilled sake as he was the "Robert Mondavi of the world of sake" for ten years when he was the founder/CEO of SakeOne Corporation, the first premium sake producer in the U.S. During that time he created the Momokawa and Moonstone brands of premium chilled sake, was founder/Chairman of the International Sake Institute, wrote the best selling sake book, Sake Pure & Simple and ran sakes seminars in 300+ cities. |
